Make it Pulse

Spectdrum listens to any sound and carves a living groove out of it. Four spectral bands. One step grid. Your sound becomes the rhythm.

There is a beat hiding in every sound.

Take a pad. A drone. A string patch. A vocal. A field recording. Anything that just sits there.

Spectdrum splits it into four frequency bands and plays each band as its own rhythmic voice. The lows punch. The mids snap. The highs tick and shimmer. Nothing is added from outside: no samples, no synthesis. Every hit is carved from your sound, so the groove keeps the color, texture, and character of the material it came from.

That is why no two Spectdrum grooves sound the same. Your sound is the groove.

Full view of the Spectdrum plugin interface: the polyrhythmic step sequencer grid at the top in the four band colors, the spectral analyzer view below it, reverb and delay panels on the right, the four band strips (Sub, Low-Mid, High-Mid, Air) with their knobs along the bottom, and the master section beneath.

SYNTH PAD

Your next beat is hiding in a pad.

A warm static saw pad goes in. A driving four-on-the-floor groove comes out. Same sound, same color, new heartbeat.

STRINGS

Make any sound move.

A slow string chord progression becomes a cinematic train beat. The rhythm carries the exact timbre of the section.

VOCAL

Teach your sounds to dance.

A held vocal turns into a dirty industrial rhythmic texture that still sounds unmistakably human.

NOISE

Bring dead sounds to life.

A flat noise layer becomes an full beat with air on top.

The least musical sound in your library, grooving.

GUITAR

Carve the groove out of anything.

A simple acoustic guitar loops becomes a dark syncopated pattern, with a distorted character to give it extra flavour.

Every "after" you hear is 100% the "before", sculpted live by Spectdrum. No samples were harmed. Or used.

Under the hood.

Spectdrum's four spectral bands: Sub, Low-Mid, High-Mid, and Air, each with independent frequency, filter, pitch, and drive controls.
Four bands. Four instruments.

Sub, Low-Mid, High-Mid, Air. Each band has its own frequency range, filter, pitch, stereo width, and drive. Solo the Sub and shape the low pulse. Push the Air and let the top end shimmer. One sound in, a full groove out.

Spectdrum's polyrhythmic step sequencer grid, with independent step counts per band.
A sequencer that thinks in polyrhythms.

Each band runs its own pattern: 1 to 32 steps, independent lengths, per-step velocity, accents, and swing. Let a 7-step Sub roll against a 16-step Air and watch the groove evolve for bars. Patterns respond to MIDI, so you can play them like an instrument.

Spectdrum's drawable envelope editors for all four bands: Sub showing a volume envelope, Low-Mid showing a descending filter sweep, High-Mid showing a pan curve, and Air showing a pitch envelope, each in its own band color.
Envelopes you draw by hand.

Volume, filter, pan, and pitch, drawable per band as free curves. Make a hit swell instead of snap. Sweep the filter across a bar. Dive the pitch on every hit. If you can draw it, the band plays it.

Per-band reverb and delay sends for depth and space, plus a master strip with compression, distortion, EQ, and a maximizer. Sound design to polished groove without leaving the plugin.

Built by a musician, for musicians.

Spectdrum is developed by Hagai Davidoff, a composer and sound designer with three decades of work in music production, theater, and education. Thousands of producers worldwide use his Kontakt instrument expansions. Spectdrum is the tool he wanted for his own studio, refined through months of daily use on real productions before release.
